INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I have training and experience in a number of different therapy interventions. I can work with you using whichever therapy intervention you are most comfortable with. The therapy that I have found that provides the most meaningful change is Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). If intensive emotional work that provides deep meaningful answers and change interests you, then I can support and guide you in this work.

Commonly in ISTDP the first session is 3 hours long. True to it’s name ISTDP is intense, but also focused on invoking meaningful change in as short of time as possible. An intensive first session can break ground that paves the way for real change.

It’s not possible for me to say how many sessions it will take for you to achieve the change and answers you are looking for. On a rare occasion this first three hour session is all someone needs. The majority of us require more sessions. The typical length of treatment for ISTDP would be one to two years.

If this intensive approach that provides deep meaningful change appeals to you please let me know that when you contact me. We will schedule and initial 3 hour session, and ISTDP can be a major treatment intervention that we use. I will supplement it with my thorough understanding of attachment.

If ISTDP sounds too intense and fast paced, you can also let me know that. We can agree to use a different treatment intervention or we can modify ISTDP to make it less intense. Your treatment is an investment in your mental health, and together we can find the interventions that work best for you. I am dedicated and persistent in helping those I work with find the answers and change they are looking for.

COUPLES AND FAMILY THERAPY

I have found that a modified version of ISTDP and a thorough understanding of attachment is a very effective approach for helping couples and families improve their relationships. The work that is unique to couples and family therapy is different from the work that can be accomplished in individual therapy. In couples and family therapy an emphasis will be put on understanding each other emotionally, which leads to a more secure attachment in these relationships. While this is different from individual work that can focus more on defining memories, this work also can be deeply healing. It is a very healing experience to develop a secure attachment with our loved ones today.

If you are wanting to focus more on the dynamics of these current relationships in your life then I can work with you as a couple or family. We can schedule one or two hour appointments. Couple and family work often becomes intense. You may prefer to keep this intense work to one hour at a time, or you may want to have a longer session at times. Your can let me know what you prefer, or together as work we can decide what is most effective and productive for you. Couple and family therapy is an investment in having the relationships and family you want, and I am dedicated to helping you achieve the healing and connection you desire in these relationships.
